The Giants, playing their first match at the SCG, kicked the first goal of the match but conceded 24 of the next 28 to lose by a whopping 129 points. It was the Giants' equal-third largest loss in their short history.
Sheedy said he was "annoyed and frustrated" and when asked if the result was good for the game, replied: "No, it is not.
"We have had 12,700 fans join this club and we have got to give them a better opportunity to see us play a game that they can enjoy
"A lot of things are not good for the game and the history of the game but you must keep working at it."
Sheedy said heavy defeats such as this would leave a lasting impression on his young playing group.
"We will go through a very, very tough period but as I said to the boys just then, you will never forget these moments, these games," Sheedy said.
"They are sort of like a deep scar there forever.
"But you will know one day when you get there, the opportunity is going to come, that you will seize that moment because of the hard years and the hard yards that you have done."
Sheedy said expectations were for his young players to produce a superstar quality game of football week-in, week-out, which was something that did not happen very often.
"It is impossible to produce that for this age group, but that's what we expect," he said.
Midfielder Tom Scully suffered concussion after a head knock in the first quarter and will be assessed during the week.
