Brett Goodes to miss the rest of the season with a double arm fracture
A DOUBLE arm fracture has ended the debut season of Western Bulldog Brett Goodes.
Goodes, the younger brother of Sydney Swans superstar Adam, sustained the double fracture of his left forearm during the las quarter of Saturday's loss to Hawthorn in Launceston.
The injury was confirmed by X-rays on Saturday night and Goodes had surgery on Sunday morning.
The mature-age rookie is the second Bulldog to suffer a season-ending injury in as many games, with tough young midfielder Clay Smith having needed a knee reconstruction after going down last weekend.
Also sidelined for the season are Jason Johannisen (shoulder), Shaun Higgins (foot) and Tom Williams (shoulder).
Goodes, 29, has been a surprise packet for the Bulldogs this season, playing 13 AFL games and averaging 21 disposals across half-back.
He provided one of the feelgood stories of last December's rookie draft, when the Bulldogs snaffled him after he had been working at the club as player welfare manager.
Adam tweeted his support on Sunday morning, saying: "Good luck to my little bro @goodes23 going under the knife this morning. Chin up bud we can sit together in Rd 19."
The Dogs host the Swans in round 19 at Etihad Stadium, with both brothers to now miss the game through injury (Adam faces another few weeks out with a knee injury).
