Guiding our efforts in this space is the AFL LGBTQI+ Inclusion Action Plan. Informed by leading practice, aligned to the Pride in Sport Index and the lived experiences of our LGBTQI+ team members, it has been formally endorsed by Pride in Sport.
The four pillars of our plan include:
- Education & Engagement - enhance our culture of inclusion and belonging through education and engagement and a focus on wellbeing.
- Policies & Processes - ensure we have leading policies and processes that promote LGBTQI+ inclusion.
- Community & Partnership - actively engage LGBTQI+ communities through partnerships to promote support and awareness.
- Leadership & Advocacy - visible leadership, commitment and advocacy for LGBTQI+ inclusion.
Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our AFL Values and our ambition is to continue to learn and grow, with an understanding there is plenty more work to be done as we strive to become an employer of choice for the LGBTQI+ community.
We actively engage with and listen to our vibrant Pride and Allies Network, which anybody across our team can join, and we consistently search for opportunities to improve.
