COLLINGWOOD midfielder Taylor Adams is in consideration for a shock recall against Sydney on Friday night, just three weeks after straining his adductor.

Initially expected to be sidelined until after the Pies' round 13 bye, Adams' last seven days of training has put him in the frame to return four weeks ahead of schedule.

The 25-year-old moved strongly and completed intense change of direction work in a 45-minute session on Monday morning at Olympic Park.

With a planned day off on Tuesday, all eyes will be on Wednesday's main session to determine whether Adams boards the flight to Sydney on Thursday.

"Taylor's really pleased with the progress he's made in the last seven days," Pies head of football Geoff Walsh told AFL.com.au on Monday.

"We had our medical meeting this morning and it's certainly positive for Taylor.

"We'll need to see how he trains on Wednesday, like a couple of guys, before we play Sydney."

Coach Nathan Buckley detailed Adams' ambitious recovery approach ahead of last week's win against St Kilda.

"He has the mentality of a guy who will listen to the medicos, smile and go 'Yep, yep, yep' but in his mind, the little man is going 'You can beat that by two or three weeks'," Buckley said.

"Tay himself is pushing really hard. We didn't anticipate that we'd see him before the bye, we may with the way he's tracking."

Adams hobbled from the ground in the Pies' round eight win over Port Adelaide and attempted to return moments later before he was ruled out for the match. Scans later revealed a torn adductor.

Darcy Moore, who completed a light jog on Monday morning, is another first-choice player who will need to tick off Wednesday's session in order to return.

"(I) obviously had the weekend off so just had to get a jog in, get moving at the start at the week," Moore said.

"I hurt my ankle about six weeks ago so (I) just used the chance to recover.

"They flagged it (rest) early in the year so it worked out in good timing.

"I'll have to train fully Wednesday to get through the game, so hopefully that's the case."

Forward Mason Cox will also need to train fully on Wednesday to be considered for the clash with the Swans after missing the past three matches.

The extent of Tom Langdon's right knee injury sustained in the win over St Kilda will be assessed this week.

Collingwood is set to be ultra-conservative with Jamie Elliott's latest hamstring setback due to his recent history with soft tissue injuries.

Elliott is currently listed with a 2-3 week return date.
