BELIEF is starting to grow at Carlton, according to interim coach David Teague.

Teague has led the Blues to victories in two of their last three matches, with their most recent effort an exciting four-point come-from-behind triumph over Fremantle in Perth on Sunday afternoon that helped them jump off the bottom of the ladder. 

That victory was done with inspirational skipper Patrick Cripps missing due to a foot injury and the win had even further merit due to the fact the Blues had to play the majority of the match without Charlie Curnow, after the star forward hurt his knee midway through the opening quarter of a physical contest. 

A Carlton side of yesteryear may have folded meekly with key personnel sidelined, but Teague says his current crop are playing with a belief that they belong at the top level. 

"You don't actually get total belief until you do it out there on the big stage and our guys are starting to get the belief because they are doing it out there," a thrilled Teague said after the win. 

"They are playing some real good football and (now) we have just got to get some consistency. 

"If we do it for four quarters I can’t wait for it and it will be good to be a part of." 

The next challenge for the Blues is at the MCG against the struggling Demons and a victory there could see Teague's side jump another place on the ladder. 

And the young coach wants the loyal navy blue faithful to turn out in droves to show they are right behind his charges.

"Our players should take a lot of belief out of this and our fans should get excited," he said. 

"I can't wait to get back to Melbourne to see the crowd. 

"I thought our crowd today were getting behind us towards the end there and I can't wait until we get back to Melbourne and get our crowd really going again."

Teague now has a 2-1 record as coach of the Blues and is putting in a strong application to be considered for the top job on a full-time basis next year. 

But the confident 38-year-old says any thoughts he has had of taking on the coaching job are not at the forefront of his mind.

"I have got a job to do and I am there to get my job done as the players are," Teague said. 

"Right now, I am having a ball. I am absolutely loving it and I am going to enjoy every minute of it.

"Where it ends up it ends up. Right now, I am having fun."
