HAWTHORN veteran Shaun Burgoyne has signed a one-year deal, staying at Waverley Park for the 2020 season.
Despite reports Burgoyne was heavily sought after by Gold Coast, he will play his 20th AFL season with the Hawks.
The silky midfielder, who will turn 37 in October, was out of contract at the end of the year.
He averaged 16 disposals across his 18 matches in 2019, and took his career tally to 376 games after making his debut in 2002.
Burgoyne is the current record holder for AFL games played by an indigenous player.
"We're thrilled that Shaun has re-committed to the Hawks," Hawthorn general manager of football Graham Wright said.
"He has put a lot of time into this decision, weighing up the best option for both [him], his family and the club, so we're really pleased with the outcome.
"He's such an integral player for us and his influence extends far beyond his on-field ability.
"He sets a great example for his teammates through his work ethic and professionalism, and he is an incredible advocate for his fellow indigenous players."
