NORTH Melbourne star Ben Cunnington is breathing a sigh of relief, escaping punishment for yet another striking action against Essendon's Zach Merrett on Saturday.

However, the news is worse for Sydney youngster Jordan Dawson and Gold Coast midfielder Anthony Miles, who have both earned one-match suspensions at the Match Review.

Cunnington faced a potential trip to the AFL Tribunal with another sanction for striking this season, having already racked up $15,500 worth of fines so far this year.

However, his hit to the side of Merrett during Saturday afternoon's loss at Marvel Stadium was not deemed worthy of any punishment, with Cunnington still walking a fine line.

Meanwhile, the Swans and the Suns will be without key players next week.

Dawson will be suspended for Sydney's clash with Fremantle, with his bump to the head of Carlton youngster Paddy Dow deemed worthy of a one-match ban by Michael Christian.

Dow was forced to undergo a concussion test as a result of the bump, which was assessed by Christian as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.

Miles will miss Gold Coast's clash with Carlton, also earning a one-match suspension for his bump to Adelaide's Riley Knight on Saturday evening.

Miles collected an unaware Knight off the ball, with the action also graded by the Match Review Officer as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.

A total of five players were also fined over the weekend:

  • Sydney's Zak Jones fined $1500 for striking Darcy Lang.
  • North Melbourne's Kayne Turner fined $3000 for striking Dylan Shiel.
  • Port Adelaide's Cam Sutcliffe fined $2000 for striking Dayne Zorko.
  • Port Adelaide's Dougal Howard fined $3000 for rough conduct on Lachie Neale.
  • Brisbane's Josh Walker fined $2000 for rough conduct on Travis Boak.
