ADELAIDE veteran Eddie Betts has slammed the door shut on a possible move back to Carlton or any other rival club, declaring he'll be at the Crows in 2020.

The star forward had reportedly attracted interest from several clubs, including Gold Coast and the Blues, after he was dropped earlier this season.

But the 32-year-old – who has kicked 599 goals in his illustrious career - said he planned to fulfill the final year of his contract with the Crows next year.

"I'm contracted to the Adelaide Football Club and I'll be playing footy for the Adelaide Crows," Betts told radio station FIVEaa on Wednesday morning.

"There's been a lot of rumours the last couple of weeks about me leaving, which (are) completely untrue.

"It all started after I got dropped from the Adelaide side.

"That's what teams do - they ring up and try and get goss around managers and see if the player's interested."

Betts shut down suggestions he could engage with rival clubs once the season had finished, having already received assurances from Crows coach Don Pyke and head of football Brett Burton about his place at the club next year.

"No, I don't think I'll be sitting down and talking to the other clubs," Betts said.

"I have spoken to Don Pyke and Brett Burton … and they said, 'You're a required player here at the Adelaide Footy Club next year'.

"I've got a young family, and it's a big decision if you want to pack up and leave."

Betts said the speculation about his future had taken a personal toll.

"It drains the hell out of you," he said.

"They could see it was affecting me, especially Don.

"He could see I was agitated and because these rumours have come out, I wanted the footy club to tell me, 'You're a required player here, we don't want to get rid of you', which was good."
