BRISBANE is again turning the Gabba into a fortress, but the next step is taking the energy from its home crowd on the road - starting this Sunday - says lanky forward Eric Hipwood.
The Lions face one of the most difficult assignments in the AFL when travelling to face Greater Western Sydney with a spot in the top four up for grabs.
Brisbane is a vastly improved team on the road over the past 12 months, but it's 3-4 interstate record in 2019 has been blotted by a thumping from Essendon and poor loss to Carlton.

Hipwood, a five-goal hero in Sunday's 33-point win over Melbourne, said the Lions had to rectify their form away from the Gabba.
"We've got to be able to win on the road," he said.
"It's a hard job, but we've got to be able to do it being an interstate club.
"Every win we can get on the road is really important for us."
STATS FILES How the Lions beat the Dees at their own game
With a 9-5 record the Lions have put themselves in a great position to play finals, but the next fortnight looms large with trips to GWS and Port Adelaide.
They finish the season with four of the final six matches at the Gabba – where they have a 6-1 record.
Hipwood said the home crowd had been lifting the young team, with Sunday's turnout of almost 25,000 another example of how support in Brisbane is returning to the Lions.

"When we get the crowd behind us you feel like you can accomplish anything," he said.
"It’s fantastic. It's the little things the Gabba supporters celebrate, it's the marks, the spoils, those little things, even the big tackles.
THE RUN HOME Is Port too unreliable to play finals?
"I think Hugh McCluggage had six tackles on the weekend, but they were all bone-crunching tackles. It's the little things they roar about that get us up and gives us energy.
"It feels like a fortress in a way."
