PORT Adelaide's finals push is well and truly alive after its dispatching of Sydney by 47 points in wet and greasy conditions at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

The Power had an answer for everything the Swans threw at them, tearing the game apart in the second half en-route to a comfortable victory – 15.13 (103) to 7.14 (56).

Cam Sutcliffe's goal after the final siren pushed the Power (10-10) into eighth spot on the ladder, narrowly ahead of crosstown rival Adelaide on percentage, 109.0 to 108.7.

The rebuilding Swans (6-14) have now lost six in a row to remain 15th on the ladder.

Despite the massive disparity in the standings, this was always a danger game for the Power, who hadn't won back-to-back games since round six.

The Swans have also shown they are more competitive, with four of their previous five defeats coming by less than 10 points.

As was the case in last weekend's 59-point thumping of Essendon, the Power attacked furiously, took plenty of risks and were potent going forward.

Youngster Connor Rozee and key forward Charlie Dixon led the way with three goals each among nine separate goal-kickers.

Defenders Darcy Byrne-Jones and Tom Jonas had 28 and 25 disposals respectively, ruckman Peter Ladhams – fresh off penning a three-year contract extension during the week – had 23 touches and 19 hitouts, and Robbie Gray was dominant at stoppages with 10 clearances and 13 contested possessions.

Jake Lloyd had a game-high 30 disposals for the Swans, Oliver Florent (29) and Josh Kennedy (24) worked hard and Isaac Heeney was dangerous in attack, kicking two goals.

The Power sprung a late selection shock when co-captain Ollie Wines – 22 disposals and two goals - was a late inclusion for his first game since missing the past three weeks with a fractured thumb.

The midfielder was originally going to come back through the SANFL, but earnt a late reprieve when Zak Butters failed a fitness test on a bruised sternum.

Wines made an immediate impact with a crumbing goal after just seven minutes.

Even when the Swans began to show signs of life, such as quick goals against the run of play to Ben Ronke and Tom Papley, the Power responded almost immediately.

After the Swans kicked five behinds in the second term, Dixon woke the crowd of 29,568 out of their slumber with his first goal of the day.

Rozee kicked his second, but Daniel Menzel produced a classy finish from the right pocket to give the Swans hope at half-time, trailing 4.10 (34) to 7.7 (49).

The Power pushed the lead out to 33 points in the third quarter after Cam Sutcliffe's inventive goal off the ground before the Swans kicked two quick ones through Menzel and Papley to stay within striking distance.

However, Power big man Paddy Ryder stood tall with a clutch set shot from outside 50m to give the Power a 28-point lead at three-quarter time.

The Power then kicked three unanswered goals in a scrappy last term to cruise to an important win.
