FREMANTLE defender Shane Kersten has been sent for scans after aggravating a plantar fascia injury at training.

The 25-year-old limped off the track in some pain midway through a session on Wednesday.

A club spokesman told AFL.com.au that the former Cat had been managing the problem in his left foot for a while.

"Although we are awaiting the outcome of a scan, it appears that Shane sustained a tear to the plantar fascia in his left foot during a training drill today," the spokesman said.

"While Shane will experience some pain and discomfort in the short-term, in the long-term he will benefit by having the plantar fascia released.

"He is expected to resume training in about two weeks."

Kersten played 37 matches for Geelong before crossing to the Dockers at the end of 2016.

He managed 20 games in his first season in the west but was restricted to just nine matches last year.

He is contracted until the end of 2019.
