GEELONG champion Gary Ablett is set to come under Match Review scrutiny for the third time in a month after striking Gold Coast midfielder Anthony Miles in the face.

Ablett lashed out at Miles late in the third term during Geelong's clash against the Gold Coast on Saturday, with Ablett's right hand collecting the Suns' midfielder flush on the chin.

An umpire near the action when Ablett made contact paid a free kick to Miles, but the star Cat wasn't reported.

Ablett has already come under MRO scrutiny twice in the last month, with the forward successfully challenging a one-match ban for a clumsy forearm to the head of Essendon's Dylan Shiel in round seven.

A week later, the MRO ruled Ablett had no case to answer for a high body "check" on North Melbourne's Sam Wright.

Ablett himself seemed confident he has nothing to worry about after the game, telling Fox Footy on the ground post-match that the hit was just "clumsy".

"It seems to get built up every week ... obviously I was a little bit clumsy there and I gave away a free kick," Ablett said. 

"It was just undisciplined. Obviously I'm disappointed with it, but just a free kick."

Geelong coach Chris Scott's media conference was ended by club officials before he was asked about the incident.
