The Cats now have almost 30 eligible father-son picks from the golden premiership era from 2007 to 2011.
Brad Ottens (Johnny), Jimmy Bartel (Aston and Henley), Corey Enright (Boh and Tex), Paul Chapman (Myles), Steve Johnson (Archie) and Cameron Mooney (Jagger) are among those eligible under the father-son rule.
Ablett has now played 211 games with the Cats, while also playing 110 matches with Gold Coast between 2011 and 2017, meaning his son could also join the Suns as a father-son selection.
