CONTRACTED Port Adelaide defenders Jasper Pittard and Jack Hombsch have been told they will be traded, should they seek fresh starts away from the Power.
AFL.com.au understands the pair were asked in separate exit meetings last week to consider their futures at Alberton as the Power prepares for another aggressive off-season.
While they're yet to be actively shopped around to other clubs, Pittard and Hombsch were informed they both face a fight to secure a spot in the Power's best 22 in 2019.
Looking to make salary cap room in the pursuit of West Coast free agent Scott Lycett, the Power told the duo that their destiny is in their hands and that a trade will be facilitated if they wish to be released.

With Jared Polec having already packed his bags bound for Victoria, a chase led by North Melbourne in front of St Kilda, the Power are bracing for more player turnover.
Pittard was dropped to the SANFL for four games after round seven this season, his first match back from a hamstring injury suffered pre-season.
An All Australian squad member in 2016, the 27-year-old last year re-signed until the end of 2020 after opting not to explore free agency.
With the incoming returns of Hamish Hartlett (ACL) and Matthew Broadbent (ankle) in 2019, Pittard has been told he is no guarantee to be a first-choice half-back next season.
Dan Houston (22 games in 2018), Darcy Byrne-Jones (21) and Riley Bonner (19) all enjoyed more opportunities in 2018.
Hombsch, one of the Power's most reliable defenders in 2014 and 2015, managed 14 games this season. He is contracted until the end of 2019.
Starting the season in the SANFL, he returned to play six AFL matches before he was dropped for round 12.
The 25-year-old was dropped for a second time in round 16 and a third occasion in round 21.
The 194cm defender found himself stuck behind All Australian squad member Tom Jonas (18 games), Dougal Howard (20) and Tom Clurey (19) for the key defensive posts.
The Power has also confirmed three list changes with Emmanuel Irra and Jimmy Toumpas delisted, while Lindsay Thomas has retired.
