MELBOURNE star Daisy Pearce has been reappointed club captain as the Demons seek to go at least one better and book a Grand Final berth in the upcoming NAB AFL Women's season.

The Demons have opted for stability in their leadership group, also keeping Mel Hickey and Elise O'Dea as vice-captains.

"They're the ones that live, drive and challenge our trademark values and behaviours," coach Mick Stinear told melbournefc.com.au.

"We received feedback from the playing group, and from what we observed over the pre-season, we think they're the three best placed people to lead our group."

The Demons only fell short of the Grand Final by percentage last year, with Pearce leading from the front.

Stinear declared the high-profile midfielder – who was named the AFLW's best captain and claimed the club champion award after averaging a competition-best 21.9 disposals – is primed for another stellar campaign.

"Daisy has taken her leadership and football to the next level, which is exactly what we want our players to do – continue to grow and get better," he said.

Hickey and O'Dea were both All Australian representatives last year and have been summer standouts.

"(Hickey) started as a defender and is now looking at being in our starting midfield and having a real impact in our second season," Stinear said.

"Her leadership and personal development has been outstanding over recent months.

"(O'Dea has) taken her conditioning and strength to a whole new level as well.

"The three of them are just really well placed to lead our side into our second season; they complement each other really well and they've got the full support of their peers."

The Dees kick-off their 2018 campaign against the Giants at Casey Fields on Saturday, February 3.
