PORT ADELAIDE coach Ken Hinkley has declared second-year midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper a certain starter for round one after a shoulder complaint.
The 20-year-old will face Fremantle on Saturday after missing the Power's second JLT Community Series match.
Captain Travis Boak also locked himself in on Monday after a hamstring injury, as did recruit Tom Rockliff who had previously been in doubt with knee soreness.
"(Travis) Boak 99 (per cent), (Sam) Powell-Pepper 101 (per cent) and (Tom) Rockliff 102 per cent," Hinkley told 5AA of the trio's chances of playing.
Rockliff failed to play either pre-season fixture, the importance of round one being the club's overriding concern.
"He's done plenty of work, he had a little bit of soreness," Hinkley said.
"Good players don't forget how to play, I don't have a problem with that.
"They may be a little rusty and they may take a bit of time.
"I'm not going to waste time and risk a player of the quality that we've brought to the club in a game that's not as significant (JLT) as this week is for us. We need to get it right this week."
Hinkley said he was excited to unveil Rockliff alongside fellow recruits Jack Watts and Steven Motlop at Adelaide Oval.
