CARLTON forward Jarrod Pickett will be out for the first three months of the season with a fractured wrist.
The 21-year-old sustained the injury at a training session on Thursday afternoon, with scans on Thursday night confirming the fracture to his scaphoid.
"Unfortunately, Jarrod sustained the injury late this evening and he immediately underwent scans," Carlton head of football Andrew McKay said.
"At this stage, we believe Jarrod will be ruled out for the next three months.
"This is obviously very disappointing for Jarrod and the club, but we will fully support him in his recovery and we hope to see Jarrod back out there in the second half of the season."
Pickett played 10 games for the Blues last season after joining the club during the 2016 trade period.
He was the fourth overall pick of the 2014 NAB AFL Draft by Greater Western Sydney, but didn't play a game in his two years at the Giants.
