AFTER star Geelong forward Tom Hawkins copped a one-week ban in round seven for making intentional contact with an umpire, two more players could be in hot water for the same offence.
Carlton midfielder Ed Curnow and Gold Coast co-captain Steven May both appeared to deliberately touch a field umpire in their respective games.
After a scuffle near the Blues' goal at the MCG, a free kick was paid to Essendon at the centre bounce.
As umpire Nathan Williamson explained the decision to Curnow, the Blues midfielder placed a hand on the umpire's chest.
Carlton coach Brendon Bolton discussed the incident during his post-match media conference.
"I haven't seen that vision, but like anything I think umpires have such a difficult role in umpiring our game because it's just so quick," he said.
"I haven't seen it to understand it but what I would say (is) we always should protect umpires."
In the other incident at the Gabba, a free kick was paid to Melbourne and May tried to explain the contest to umpire David Harris, bumping him in the chest.
Both incidents are sure to be looked at by Match Review Officer Michael Christian and his findings will be revealed on Monday afternoon, giving Curnow and May a nervous wait.
