ADELAIDE will give untried trio Tom Doedee, Darcy Fogarty and Lachlan Murphy every chance to push their claims for a round one debut.
All three will line up as part of a strong 25-player Crows squad for Saturday's JLT Community Series encounter with Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval.
Doedee is the frontrunner to take over Jake Lever's spot in defence, Fogarty – last year's No.12 overall draft pick – could be a bolter if skipper Taylor Walker fails to get up from a foot injury, while rookie-listed small forward Murphy has rocketed into calculations after three goals against Fremantle a fortnight ago.
"They're very serious chances, that's why they're in the side playing tomorrow," Adelaide assistant coach Josh Francou said.
"We saw Lachie Murphy a couple weeks ago against Fremantle, he played an important role for us forward, he was able to pressure and hit the scoreboard.
"Tom Doedee has impressed me and no doubt the other coaching staff, especially Ben Hart, who looks after the backs.
"Fogarty is one of those guys I'd expect would make an immediate impact when he plays, and I'm looking forward to what he can produce tomorrow."
Walker remains touch and go for the Crows' season opener with Essendon at Etihad Stadium on March 23.
The key forward has returned to training after a plantar fascia injury in his foot.
"He's doing everything he can," Francou said.
"He had that bit of a hiccup a few weeks back, but having watched him train, he'll be doing everything he can to prepare and play round one."
Midfield bull Brad Crouch will also go into the season with limited preparation after missing the JLT games with an abdominal strain.
"He's had a few hiccups recently, but the fitness staff are doing everything they can to manage him and best prepare him to give him every opportunity to play round one," Francou said.
"That'll be the focus for Brad going forward."
Speedster Wayne Milera will continue his comeback from knee tendinitis in a SANFL trial on Saturday.
He played just over a quarter in an intra-club game last weekend, predominately off half-back.
"Whether he's time-limited tomorrow, we're not sure, but it's just good to see him out on the park considering the hurdles he's had to jump over the last three or four weeks," Francou said.
"He's been training very well and we all know he's a beautiful ball user, so I'm looking forward to seeing him pull the boots on tomorrow."
