SEVERAL big names were surprise starters at the first day of pre-season training on Monday.
Brisbane veteran Luke Hodge and Crows stars Rory Sloane and Bryce Gibbs were among the senior players who joined their younger teammates out on the track.
The older generation helped put the first-to-fourth-year players through their paces as they kicked off their preparations for the 2019 season.
