TOUGH St Kilda forward Mav Weller will be available for selection to face West Coast at Optus Stadium on Saturday night after overcoming concussion.

Weller, 26, was concussed at training last Thursday in a collision with Jade Gresham during match simulation, but has recovered.

"(He) has been ticked off so he just needs to get through Thursday training. He trained today (Tuesday) so we'll look at selecting him on the weekend," St Kilda head physiotherapist Andrew Wallis told saints.com.au.

Key forward Josh Bruce is set to play football next week for the first time since round three.

Bruce, 25, suffered bone stress in his lower back in April.

"He trained today for the first time and will fully train on Thursday. He won't play this week though. He'll be available for selection the following week," Wallis said.

At the other end of the ground, Nathan Brown should be back before the bye. His recovery from a right knee injury has gone quicker than expected, and he ran on Tuesday.

"We initially thought that he wouldn't be available until after the bye but now looks like being available before the bye," Wallis said.

The Saints have three games until taking their week off in round 14.

Fellow backman Sam Gilbert (right thumb surgery) and Blake Acres (groin) won't be back until after the bye, while luckless midfielder Nathan Freeman is a fortnight away from returning after he copped a knock to a shoulder earlier this month.
