WANTAWAY Crow Mitch McGovern is back in Adelaide while discussions continue about his trade request despite having two years to run on his contract.

McGovern was spotted on Monday training in a gym in Adelaide's western suburbs, not associated with the club's headquarters at West Lakes.

It's understood the 23-year-old also attended the SANFL Grand Final between North Adelaide and Norwood at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

McGovern was in Perth last week recovering from post-season ankle surgery while assessing his trade options.

Carlton is the clear favourite for McGovern's services, although his manager Colin Young last week said four clubs remained in the hunt.

"Carlton certainly are going through the process of trying to have a look for a trade (for McGovern), they've got a lot on at the moment," Young told the NAB AFL Trade Radio launch last Wednesday.

"We're fortunate enough that 12 months ago Mitch was thinking about leaving so we met with four clubs, so basically (we're) picking up the ball from 12 months ago and talking to those same clubs.

"Carlton is one of those four clubs we're talking to, he hasn't had a medical so we haven't got a contract across the line yet.

"We're hoping by this time next week we'll be able to give the media and the clubs an answer.

"Hopefully (we'll) work together (with Adelaide) on getting the right trade.

"Obviously Carlton is a contender, but to say what he's worth, it's going to be dictated to by what Carlton – or any other club – has and what Adelaide needs."

McGovern has kicked 67 goals in 48 games for the Crows since being selected with the 43rd overall pick in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
