PORT Adelaide will take a wait and see approach on who gets the defensive job on Fremantle superstar Nat Fyfe when the Brownlow medallist pushes into attack.
Fyfe's ability to create havoc when he goes deep into the forward line looms as one of the keys to Saturday's round one clash between the Dockers and Power at Adelaide Oval.
Power defender Tom Jonas said it would take a team effort to ensure Fyfe doesn't get off the leash.
"We don’t like to have massive match-ups in the forward line, just whoever is deep or higher, we like to stay in those positions, so we could see a number of people get a look at Fyfe when he comes down," Jonas said.
"At the same time, they've got some other really dangerous forwards.
"You've got (Michael) Walters, (Cam) McCarthy, (Matt) Taberner, all who are looking pretty dangerous, so it will be whoever is there will get the job on him and hopefully we can get some support from the guys whose opponents aren't as dangerous at times."
Fyfe, who stands 190cm, was outstanding during last November's Virgin Australia International Rules Series and carried that level of play into the JLT Community Series.
The 26-year-old Dockers skipper is primed to recapture his Brownlow Medal winning form of 2015.
"He's a big, strong man," Jonas said.
"He's just an all-round good footballer.
"He can jump high, take good catches, he's very agile, he's got the works."
The Power held a training session behind closed doors at Alberton Oval on Thursday morning.
Jonas said star recruit Tom Rockliff (knee), skipper Travis Boak (hamstring) and midfield bull Sam Powell-Pepper (shoulder) proved their fitness.
"They've all come up 100 per cent so they'll be raring to go and they'll be out there on Saturday," Jonas said.
