COLLINGWOOD'S Kayle Kirby won't play in the VFL this weekend as tests are yet to reveal exactly what caused his collapse from an irregular heartbeat last month.
Kirby is back at the club and taking part in light training exercises while investigations continue into why his heart went out of rhythm during a VFL practice match.
A club spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday night that Kirby would be kept on light duties until the tests were complete.
The Pies expect to have some answers early next week.
The 19-year-old went to hospital after collapsing behind play during the second quarter of the practice match at the Holden Centre on March 31.
Kirby rolled onto his back after he fell, and momentarily stood before lying back down.
The game was stopped for 40 minutes while he was treated on the field before he was taken to Epworth Hospital where he spent the night.
DUTY OF CARE: Heart check processes continually reviewed
The incident happened two weeks before St Kilda's Dylan Roberton suffered a similar attack on Sunday night during the Saints' clash with Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.
Roberton has also been ruled out this week as he undergoes tests to determine why he blacked out in a scary behind-play incident in the second quarter.
The Saints' backman returned to the club on Wednesday after spending Sunday night in Geelong's Epworth Hospital.
An upbeat Roberton said in a video released by the club he expected to miss "a couple of weeks".
Meanwhile, Collingwood veteran Daniel Wells is expected to line up in his second successive VFL game on Saturday as he looks to build conditioning after an injury-interrupted pre-season.
AROUND THE LEAGUES: Who's pushing for a recall?
Darcy Moore, Josh Smith, Taylor Adams and Jamie Elliott are all looking to be available around the time of the Pies' round six clash with Richmond on April 29 as they recover from hamstring injuries.
Midfielder Levi Greenwood is also hopeful of playing that weekend after a long battle with post-operative knee pain.
His soreness has improved in recent weeks to the point where he's moving freely and training fully.
The Pies may be looking for reinforcements for the clash with the Tigers given they'll be coming off a four-day break after next Wednesday's Anzac Day blockbuster against the Bombers.
