NATHAN Wilson believes important Fremantle runner Stephen Hill is ready to go for Saturday night's historic first home game at Optus Stadium.
However, the Dockers' match committee has a decision to make on the returning star, who missed all three pre-season matches and round one after a quad issue and then a calf setback.
Wilson hoped Hill, who is a test on the injury list, would make his comeback against the fleet-footed Bombers and add some run to the line-up on the fast Optus Stadium deck.
"I think he's ready to go. He's been training the house down, so it would be good to get him in the side and a bit of run," Wilson said.
"He should train Thursday and if he gets through Thursday I think he's up for selection.
"I'm not sure if he will be half-back or wing, but it will be good to have another speedy bloke in there and not just a couple of us boys running off all the time."
While there are positive signs for Hill, young defender Griffin Logue's comeback from a foot injury is clouded.
Logue was listed as a test last week but didn't play in Peel's thumping 104-point victory over East Perth and the 19-year-old now doesn't have a return date on the club's injury list.
However, full-back Joel Hamling appears likely to be recalled after being considered underdone for the 50-point loss to Port Adelaide.
Hamling was commanding in the air for Peel on Saturday and could have a key role shutting down Essendon spearhead Joe Daniher or Cale Hooker.
"It would be good to have him. I think he needed a bit of game time so he went down to Peel," Wilson said.
The Dockers failed to deliver on a promising JLT Community Series campaign against the Power, only booting nine goals in a disappointing performance.
"I don't think many of our mids kicked goals on the weekend … but obviously our forwards need to put pressure on and keep the ball inside," Wilson said.
"That's what we base our game on in the JLT series and we didn't bring that against Port Adelaide."
Meanwhile, Wilson hoped close friend Harley Bennell would be back from his latest calf issue soon.
Bennell suffered a strain in mid-February while on a club-imposed ban but after completing a 21-day rehab program he still isn't available to play.
"It would be mentally tough. I would have thrown it in last year to be honest," Wilson said.
"But he's going well. I think he will be playing in the next couple of weeks, touch wood.
"He's hanging tough and hopefully we'll get him on the park very soon."
