A PAIR of Sydney stalwarts could be going around again in 2019, with veteran defender Heath Grundy revealing that both he and Jarrad McVeigh are keen to continue their careers.
Grundy, 32, played his 250th game a fortnight ago, but says he's feeling as fit as ever during a campaign in which he has remained one of the game's most reliable key defenders.
Meanwhile the 33-year-old McVeigh has overcome a difficult season with injury in 2017 to return to being a mainstay in the Swans' defence, playing 12 of 13 games this year.
Grundy said that as a result, both would be keen to remain at the club beyond this season.
"If I can keep contributing and if 'Horse' (John Longmire) sees me in the side next year, then I'm happy to keep going," Grundy told SEN.
McVeigh will return to Sydney's side ahead of its crucial clash with Richmond at Etihad Stadium on Thursday night, having missed its previous game due to injury.
It was the first game McVeigh has missed all year, with the half-back enduring a campaign to forget last season as he managed a troublesome calf problem.
The 2012 premiership captain played just 13 games for the entire season, but has rediscovered his best form this year to average 22.6 disposals per game.
"I think last year, with his niggly calf injuries, he looked like he'd finish up," Grundy said.
"This year, he's been pretty solid. He only missed last week, but he's been getting 20 to 25 touches every week. He's extremely important to our structure with his ball use and his experience and he sees the game really well.
"If he's playing good footy, there's no reason why he can't keep going. He loves his footy, he's right into it, and I'm sure he wants to keep going.
"If his body can hold up, he's shown this year that he's found a routine that works for him and he's been playing pretty well."
