COLLINGWOOD star Daniel Wells suffered a foot strain against Melbourne on Monday, but coach Nathan Buckley is confident the injury will not sideline him for any great length of time.
Wells limped from the field in the second quarter of his side's clash with Melbourne, cutting a forlorn figure after walking from the field and going down the race with the doctor.
However, the 33-year-old re-emerged on the field to run through some drills at half-time and returned to the game in the third quarter.
He left the ground intermittently for treatment during the second half, but played out the game.
"Wellsy had a foot strain, so we had to get a look at him, late in the second quarter, but he came back and played the game out, so that's a positive," Buckley said.
"So he's got a bit of time to have a look at that, but apart from that, I think we're pretty good."
The veteran midfielder only returned to the senior side in round eight after battling an achilles issue in the latter stages of the pre-season.
Wells played three matches in the VFL after his delayed start to the season and he was managed again in round 10.
Wells, in the second year of a lucrative three-year deal at Collingwood, was hampered by a calf complaint in his first season at the club in 2017.
The former Kangaroo has been able to display his class in spurts for 13 AFL games for the Pies, but injury has prevented him from doing that consistently so far.
Wells will be hoping for a less interrupted second half of 2018.
