CHRISTIAN Petracca is no certainty to return from an infected finger for Sunday's clash with St Kilda, Melbourne captain Nathan Jones says.
Petracca sustained the injury after one of his pet dogs bit him, and the subsequent infection required a stint in hospital and forced him to miss last week's win over Essendon.
Speaking on SEN on Tuesday morning, Jones said the 22-year-old's condition would be monitored throughout the week.
"I think he will give himself every opportunity, but it probably comes down to the fact he hasn't done much (training) in the past 7-10 days, so whether or not we risk him will come down to our medical team," Jones said.

"I know he has left hospital and gone for a walk, but as far as getting the training in and playing a game this weekend, there would be some risk there, you'd think.
"That infection spread pretty quickly into his hand, and the (doctors) closed it back up yesterday and gave him the all clear."
Melbourne will also need to keep a close eye on Jesse Hogan after the key forward injured his right knee in a marking contest in the third quarter against Essendon.
Hogan went into the rooms for treatment before returning to play out the match.
