MARCUS Bontempelli faces a race against time to be fit for the Bulldogs' round eight clash with Brisbane on Saturday.

The young star was a late withdrawal from the Dogs' win over the Suns because of a hip complaint, which the club revealed he has been nursing for a couple of weeks.

Bontempelli pulled up sore from training last Thursday.

Collingwood could be without Scott Pendlebury for Sunday's blockbuster against Geelong at the MCG.

The Magpies captain was troubled by a left ankle issue and sat out most of the second half.

West Coast will be sweating on the severity of Luke Shuey's hamstring injury.

The gun midfielder sat out the remainder of Saturday's win over Port Adelaide after hurting his hamstring in the opening minutes.

In further bad news for the winless Blues, key forward Levi Casboult is set to miss a month of football, after he fractured a rib when kneed in the ribs by Tom Doedee in a marking contest late in the game.

Casboult also sustained an injury to the lining of his lung and will remain in hospital in Adelaide for several days.

Teammate Lachie Plowman suffered a corked quad in the game and is in doubt for the Blues' match with the Bombers on Saturday.

The Tigers could be without top midfielder Dion Prestia when they meet the Kangaroos on Sunday.

Prestia had ice applied to his lower leg late in Sunday's match and didn't return to the field.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said Prestia might be in doubt for next week.

Tigers captain Trent Cotchin, who was a late withdrawal because of a knee issue, should return.

St Kilda's loss to Melbourne was compounded by injury concerns to Paddy McCartin, Shane Savage and Sam Gilbert.

McCartin came from the field early in the second quarter and appeared to have some blood tests and treatment to his leg before returning to the ground soon after.

Only minutes later, the young forward, who has a history of concussion issues, clashed heads with Neville Jetta.

McCartin went down to the rooms, but returned early in the third term, before sitting out the game from midway through the fourth quarter.

Savage left the field in the last quarter after copping an accidental knock to the ribs in a contest with Angus Brayshaw, while Gilbert limped off with what appeared to be a serious ankle injury late in the game.

  • North Melbourne will monitor Ed Vickers-Willis. The young gun failed to return after crashing heavily into the goalpost in the final quarter.
  • Geelong duo Esava Ratugolea and Jed Bews should be fine to face Collingwood. Ratugolea landed heavily on his back after taking a brilliant mark in the opening term on Friday night. He received treatment and played out the game. Bews took a knock to a shoulder, but it's not considered to be serious.
  • Dylan Shiel had a foot stomped on by Scott Selwood, but received treatment and played out the game.
  • Matt Rosa returned to play out the game after having a shoulder strapped in the third quarter. Rory Thompson was hampered by a left ankle problem early, but played out the game.
  • Hawthorn pair Will Langford (back spasms) and Ricky Henderson (gastro) will be monitored, after they were late withdrawals ahead of the Hawks' win over the Bombers. Captain Jarryd Roughead copped a knee in the back in the final term, but played out the game. Ruckman Zac Smith, who was a late withdrawal due to back spasms, will be assessed.
  • Brisbane's Jarrod Berry went off briefly with an ankle issue, but soon returned to finish out the match.
  • Charlie Dixon hurt a calf in the early stages of Saturday's loss to the Eagles, but appeared to move freely throughout the remainder of the match.
  • Star Sydney duo Callum Mills (right ankle) and Josh Kennedy (right leg) both came from the field in the second half, but returned to play out the game.
  • Adelaide's hamstring curse may have struck yet again, with running defender Wayne Milera set to undergo scans after he sat out the second half of the Crows' big win over Carlton.
