ESSENDON defender Ben McNiece has re-signed with the club as a category B rookie.
The small backman will stay at the club for at least another year and will be able to play for the senior team if an Essendon player heads onto the long-term injury list next year.

"With injury hampering his progress in his first season, it has no doubt been frustrating for Ben," Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro said.
"Despite the setback, Ben has shown great determination throughout his two years on the list.
"He is a quality young man and we are excited to see what he can achieve in 2019."
McNiece was originally drafted to the Bombers through the Next Generation Academy rules given his Indian background.
