LUKE McDonald was suspended from North Melbourne's game against Richmond on Wednesday night for drinking on the club's community camp in Hobart last month.
A North spokesman confirmed to AFL.com.au on Friday afternoon that McDonald had missed the Roos' second JLT Community Series game as the result of a club-imposed suspension related to drinking.
When North named its team for Wednesday night's game, it listed McDonald among its 'outs', officially stating that he was being rested.
However, it's understood Kangaroos officials cautioned their players during the Hobart community camp about drinking in the wake of second-year forward Jy Simpkin's recent collision with a motorcyclist while walking home after a night out.
McDonald was subsequently among a group of North players who had a drink together while in Hobart.
As the senior member of the group, McDonald was the only player the Roos' club leaders decided should be punished. It's believed the club's issue was not with McDonald's behaviour but with the timing of his decision to drink.
Having served his suspension, McDonald will be available for selection in North's round one game against Gold Coast on March 24.
