IT'S DAY two of the free agency period with Luke Dahlhaus and Reece Conca wasting no time in exercising their rights under the system and already finding new homes.

AFL.com.au's Trade Winds will provide a round-up of the latest action each morning until the end of the NAB AFL Trade Period on Wednesday, October 17.

Inside information suggests Shiel decision is close

Giants midfielder Dylan Shiel is reportedly weighing up interest from Carlton, St Kilda, Essendon and Hawthorn as he considers a move home to Victoria.

His decision may be made public over the weekend, with Port Adelaide premiership coach and former GWS assistant Mark Williams revealing on Adelaide radio station FIVEaa he believes Shiel will "nominate in the next 24 hours".

How would Choco know? His daughter Georgie is the long-time partner of Shiel, and you'd think that would mean he'd have some pretty good insight into the situation.

Moore time for Darcy at the Pies

Injury-hit defender Darcy Moore will stay at Collingwood for the next two seasons after agreeing to a contract extension.

Despite speculation about a move to Sydney, which was quashed by incoming Swans CEO Tom Harley on SEN on Friday, The Age has reported that Moore has signed until the end of 2020.

The article also suggests the Pies are close to finalising a deal for fellow backman Tom Langdon.

Harley also "categorically" ruled the Swans out of making a play for Gold Coast defender Steven May and also for the club throwing its hat in the ring for Shiel.

But, he confirmed their interest in Melbourne's Aaron vandenBerg and Hawthorn's Taylor Duryea, and believes they'll land North Melbourne's Ryan Clarke early in the NAB AFL Trade Period after it kicks off on Monday.

Mitchell headed back to where it all began

Four-time premiership Hawk Sam Mitchell is headed back to Waverley to join Alastair Clarkson's coaching team.

Mitchell's manager Peter Lenton confirmed to NAB AFL Trade Radio the 2012 Brownlow medallist and his family were headed back to Victoria after two years in Perth.

Mitchell will leave West Coast halfway through a four-year contract, where he served as a player last year and an assistant coach in 2018.

But Lenton said the Eagles had understood the family's desire to return home and expected to work through the details with the club to allow Mitchell passage to Clarkson's coaching stable.

Lynch to start low, finish high at Punt Road

The Age has reported details about Tom Lynch's offer from Richmond, which was confirmed on Friday with paperwork lodged at AFL House.

He has reportedly agreed to a heavily backloaded seven-year deal that will net him close to $6.5 million, but see him earn around $500,000 a year until the end of 2021 as the Tigers cover the salaries of their existing stars.

His yearly income will rise after that and he'll earn as much as $1.5 million in the final season of this deal.

WHO'S LEAVING YOUR CLUB? All the latest retirements and delistings

Dustin Martin, Jack Riewoldt, Alex Rance and Trent Cotchin have all signed new deals in the past 14 months.

The Suns have until Monday to read through the offer made by the Tigers and are keen to ensure that snagging another free agent – like Geelong's George Horlin-Smith – won't affect their expected compensation of pick No.3 in the NAB AFL Draft.

A handful of other Cats including Daniel Menzel, Jackson Thurlow and Jordan Murdoch remain in limbo and may have to wait until the end of the trade period to learn if their futures are at Geelong, says AFL.com.au.

Richmond's Reece Conca became a Fremantle player on a three-year deal and Bulldog Luke Dahlhaus went to Geelong for at least the next four years on day one of the free agency period.
