HAWTHORN veteran Shaun Burgoyne will be sidelined for about three weeks with a hamstring injury, but key defender James Frawley is 'a good chance' to return against Richmond on Sunday.

Burgoyne strained his left hamstring in the opening quarter of the Hawks' thrilling Easter Monday win over Geelong and took no further part in the game.

Hawthorn high performance director Andrew Russell told the club's website on Tuesday Burgoyne's run of 107 consecutive games had come to an end.

"We probably expect him to miss around three weeks. He doesn't have a history of hamstrings, so we expect him to settle down well," Russell said.

Frawley was a late withdrawal from Easter Monday's game with a foot injury, but Russell said the defender had not suffered a recurrence of the turf toe condition that ended his 2017 season after round eight.

"It's totally different to the issues he's had in the past," Russell said.

"He trained last week, he had some inflammation in the foot (and) we didn't think he was quite right.

"He'll be a test this week and he's a good chance to play."

Russell expected Will Langford (hand) would return this week for his first game of the season, but was unsure whether the midfielder would play in the AFL or VFL.

Ruckman Jonathon Ceglar is also getting close to playing his first game since undergoing a knee reconstruction in late 2016.

"He trained really well today, he had his most promising session he's had so far," Russell said.

"I think in a week or two we could see him out there again."
