TOM LYNCH has shied away from talk about his impending free agency status, saying he has blinkers on for round one.
The Gold Coast co-captain was a popular target for journalists on Captains Day in Melbourne on Thursday but wasn't in a mood to elaborate on his contract.
"It's pretty early in the season, it's not even round one. I'm more thinking of that than my contract," Lynch said.
"I'm just looking forward to the season starting."
After a drop in form last year from his 2016 All Australian output, Lynch said he had to concentrate on being the best footballer he could.
When pushed on whether family would be a consideration in his decision, the 25-year-old was dismissive.
Lynch cracked a rare smile when asked if he could replicate Dustin Martin's 2017 season under similar scrutiny.
"That'd be nice," he laughed.
"I think every player will deal with it (free agency) differently.
"Dusty is a super player and he blossomed last year, but he's been a super player for a long time."
