OPTUS Stadium will take immediate action to protect players from its abrasive LED fence after Geelong's Mark Blicavs and Zach Tuohy required stitches in Sunday's loss to West Coast.
The AFL advised the AFLPA, West Coast and Fremantle changes would be implemented to the signage for this weekend's Eagles-Suns clash following a review into both separate incidents last weekend.
The entire perimeter fence at Perth's new home of football will be protected as a temporary solution before a permanent answer is found for later in the season.
AFL General Manager Football Operations Steve Hocking conceded there had been some differences between the LED signage used at Optus Stadium compared to other venues.

It comes after Tuohy, who along with Blicavs required stitches after cuts to their hands, called for change.
Tuohy needed three stitches in his right hand and Blicavs required 14 in total – nine in his left hand and five in his right elbow – when the pair stretched out their hands to protect themselves from careering into the fence.
"It's an easy fix. Just put some kind of plastic Perspex over the front of it and problem solved," Tuohy told K rock radio earlier this week.
"My real concern [would] be, like the Mark Blicavs incident, if you go face-first into it you could potentially have some really nasty scars.
"(It’s) not a huge deal, we’ll be fine. But two in the space of 10 minutes probably warrants the conversation."
Hocking said Optus Stadium's 5.5 metre run-off between boundary line would remain as it sits above the minimum requirement of five metres.
