VETERAN Dale Thomas will miss Carlton's clash against the Western Bulldogs with calf tightness.
An AFL spokesman tweeted two hours before the start of Sunday's clash at the MCG that Thomas had been withdrawn from Carlton's team and would be replaced by Liam Sumner.
A Carlton official told AFL.com.au Thomas had been given every chance to prove his fitness, but had been withdrawn when his calf still "wasn't right" on Sunday morning.
Billie Smedts has now been added to the Blues' emergencies.
