THE AFL has turned to experience for this week's finals matches, with six of the League's most capped umpires appointed for the cut-throat semi-finals.
Experienced trio Brett Rosebury, Matthew Nicholls and Simon Meredith, who have umpired 82 finals between them, have been placed in charge of Friday night's clash between Geelong and Sydney.

Matt Stevic, Justin Schmitt and Shaun Ryan will draw on 50 games of finals experience when they take charge of Saturday night's semi-final between Greater Western Sydney and West Coast.
Schmitt was the only umpire from West Coast's win over Port Adelaide to progress to the second week with Chris Donlon, who paid the controversial free kick against Jared Polec for a high tackle on Luke Shuey, not appointed in either match.
The six umpires have more than 250 senior games of experience and were in action in the opening week of finals.
Ray Chamberlain has been named as the emergency field umpire on Friday night, with Brendan Hosking on standby for Saturday night.
The League's most experienced umpire, Shane McInerney (466 games), has not been called on.
