YOUNG St Kilda forward Paddy McCartin was reported in the VFL on Saturday after a hard hit in the second quarter of Sandringham's match against North Ballarat at Trevor Barker Oval.
McCartin, the No.1 draft pick in 2014, collided with the Roosters' Tony Lockyer while bracing for contact at the end of a lead.
The 21-year-old booted seven goals against Collingwood in the VFL last week but was unable to win a spot in the senior team.
He finished with two goals in the Saints' 14-point win, 12.6 (78) to 9.10 (64).
His task will likely become harder after St Kilda's brilliant 23-point win against Greater Western Sydney on Friday night at Etihad Stadium.
Star Saints forward Nick Riewoldt looked sore as he manages a right knee issue that started when he hyperextended the joint against Melbourne in round one, but coach Alan Richardson told ABC Radio on Saturday the former skipper was almost certain to line up against Carlton next Saturday at Etihad Stadium.
