ADELAIDE'S midfield stocks have taken another hit with Cam Ellis-Yolmen to miss the entire season with a torn ACL.
The 24-year-old hyperextended his right knee during the first half of the Crows' 19-point loss to Richmond in the JLT Community Series game at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.
Ellis-Yolmen and the club initially believed it was only a minor injury, but scans on Monday confirmed the extent of the damage.
Ellis-Yolmen was in the mix for a permanent spot after playing only two games last year.
It's the latest injury concern for the Crows in the midfield, with All Australian Rory Sloane (eye socket), veteran Scott Thompson (shoulder) and Brad Crouch (hamstring) all unlikely to play any part in the pre-season competition.
The Crows expect Sloane and Thompson to be available for the massive round one encounter with premiership favourites Greater Western Sydney, while Crouch is unlikely to be ready.
Ellis-Yolmen has played 14 games for the Crows since being taken with the 64th pick in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.
He is off-contract at the end of the season.
Crows head of football Brett Burton said the club would support Ellis-Yolmen through his rehabilitation.
"The injury is really disappointing for both Cam and the club," Burton said.
"We were excited about him pushing his claims for round one selection.
"We will consult a specialist this week with the view to Cam having surgery, which will unfortunately rule him out for the season.
"I have no doubt Cam will be diligent in his rehabilitation and we look forward to supporting him through that process."
Ruckman Sam Jacobs (back) and forwards Mitch McGovern (knee) and Jonathon Beech (calf) also sustained injuries in the loss to the Tigers.
The Crows are yet to provide an update on their availability for Sunday's pre-season game with Geelong at Richmond Oval.
