HAWTHORN'S premiership swingman Ryan Schoenmakers has re-signed for one more year, extending his stay at Waverley Park to 10 seasons.
The contract details for the 112-gamer, who played in the Hawks' 2015 flag, were finalised last week.
Schoenmakers was dropped after featuring in Hawthorn's losing round one side, and played eight VFL games for Box Hill before breaking back into the AFL side in round 14.
The 26-year-old, the No.16 pick in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, was at senior level for the final 10 games and kicked 10 goals in that time, including four two-goal hauls.
Hawthorn's recruiting and list manager Graham Wright said the club was pleased with how Schoenmakers responded to his demotion.
"It’s been a tough 18 months for Ryan with injury and the competition for spots at an AFL level," Wright said.
"But he worked really hard at Box Hill and was rewarded for that in the back half of the season. No matter which end of the ground we play him, his endeavour to make a contest is always 100 percent.
"The way he has carried himself this year is a testament to his character, and we’re looking forward to watching him continuing the strong form he showed in the latter part of this year."
