THE BRISBANE Lions have confirmed tough midfielder Mitch Robinson will be out for at least 10 weeks with a foot fracture.

Robinson hurt his foot while doing a superb shut-down job on Sydney skipper Josh Kennedy.

Scans on Monday revealed the extent of the damage to his right foot.

The 27-year old will wear a moonboot and stay off his feet for the next month.

Robinson, a joint Merrett-Murray Medallist in 2015 and runner up last season, was due to play his 150th match against Hawthorn in his home state of Tasmania on Sunday.

Lions football manager David Noble told the club's website: "It's frustrating for Mitch who has had a strong start to the year.

"Mitch is someone who leads by example and shows complete commitment week in and week out - we know that he will show the same commitment to his rehab."

In further injury news, defender Daniel McStay will undergo surgery to repair a fractured hand.

McStay will have a plate inserted and is expected to miss the next 2-3 weeks.
