COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley is content to wait until the season is over before a decision is made on his coaching future.

With the Magpies sitting in 15th spot after 14 rounds having won just five games for the year, speculation around his future has gone up another gear after the loss to Hawthorn.

However, with the club reviewing the football department the coach said he was focused on what the club needed from him rather than the talk around his contract.  

"The reality is I'm more than happy to let this season play out," Buckley said.

“I choose not to spend my time thinking about the things you guys [the media] spend your time on, so it's head down, bum up and making sure that we make the most of every day to be able to perform as well as we possibly can."

Buckley said he expects discussions about senior leadership positions within the club to happen in the off-season.

He said he was still involved in list management discussions and was confident he could keep his eye on the immediate while being involved in making long-term decisions that were in the club's best interests.

"My major charter is to continue to look forward as much as I'm looking to Saturday to be able to put the club in as strong a position as I possibly can," Buckley said.

Buckley said the list wasn't perfect, but the profile of players aged between 20 and 24 was very good and its midfield was strong.

"I can see some really strong buy-in from the young players," Buckley said.

"In the end whatever is best for [the club] is the most important thing, and whoever is sitting in the senior coaching position will have a responsibility but these young players are making their own careers and they will continue forward regardless of who is in my chair."
