FORMER Gold Coast wingman Matt Shaw is one of three AFL castoffs hoping to rekindle their career at Carlton.
The Suns delisted Shaw, a 17-year-old access selection in 2010, in late October after he played 102 games across seven seasons, but only two this year.
The ex-Dandenong Stingray was a conspicuous presence with his long blond locks as the Blues' training officially kicked off on Ikon Park's back ovals on Wednesday after two days of testing.

Joining 25-year-old Shaw on the track were former Port Adelaide defender Cameron O'Shea and Blaine Boekhorst, who is hoping for a reprieve after he failed to survive Carlton's latest cut.
O'Shea, also 25, spent the 2017 season with the Northern Blues, winning the club's best and fairest and earning VFL Team of the Year selection at centre half-back.
He managed 81 appearances in six seasons at the Power, highlighted by his 2013 campaign, when he played 24 times and averaged 18.2 disposals, five marks and 3.2 tackles.
The mobile and versatile 193cm backman came eighth in Port's best and fairest that year.
O'Shea was starved of opportunities in his last three seasons at Alberton, behind Tom Jonas, Tom Clurey, Jack Hombsch and Jackson Trengove in selection.
The Blues have had success in recent times recycling discarded key defenders Sam Rowe and Alex Silvagni.
Boekhorst, 24, was largely a disappointment in his three years on Carlton's list, playing just 25 matches and kicking 15 goals after being a top-20 pick in 2014.
But his last two games of the year were arguably the finest of his AFL career, gathering a personal-high 26 disposals against Hawthorn then adding 19 touches and three goals against Sydney.
Boekhorst has the potential to provide a point of difference for the Blues' midfield with his line-breaking speed and kicking skills.
Recruits Matt Kennedy, Darcy Lang and Aaron Mullett were also part of Wednesday's training session.
