THE new NAB AFL Women's competition is promising something different, and now it can be revealed the 'something different' will extend to after the siren.

Unlike their male counterparts, who retreat to the change rooms to sing their team song after a win, the women's teams will break into their choral celebrations on the field of play.

"The victorious AFLW team will sing the club song on the field immediately after matches," a League spokesperson confirmed to AFL.com.au.

"We think this is an opportunity to start a new AFLW tradition where the fans can join in the winning celebrations with the players."

The inaugural AFLW begins on Friday night with Carlton playing Collingwood at Ikon Park.

The eight-team competition will see all teams play each other once, before the top two play off in the Grand Final.

Many of the games are being played at suburban venues, and entry is free to most matches.

Entry is free to all AFLW matches excluding games that form part of a double header with the JLT Community Series. For more information on purchasing tickets to those matches, please click here.
