WE ARE left with four teams in the premiership race, which means many of the players you relied upon for Draftstars points during the home and away season are no longer available.
But we're here to help with our preliminary final cheat sheet ahead of the second last week of daily fantasy footy for this season.
We've highlighted some players to consider and others to avoid. Visit draftstars.com.au for more information.
Adelaide v Geelong, Friday night, Adelaide Oval
Brad Crouch (MID, $15,050): Crouch has been overlooked at times this season because his brother Matt (MID, $15,150) finds more touches, but Brad stepped up with a team-high 124 points against GWS in week one of the finals. It followed his superb 133-point effort in round 23 and underlined his ability to amass big totals. He thrives in the finals spotlight.
Tom Lynch (FWD, $12,750): The Crows were able to use Lynch as a key part of their entry into attack in the qualifying final win over the Giants. He picked up 117 points from 25 disposals and 10 marks, with his capacity to find uncontested marks a vital element of his scoring power. He has averaged 92 for the season.
Rory Sloane (MID, $16,050): The big question for Draftstars coaches this week is whether or not to pick Sloane, who hasn't played in three weeks after appendix surgery. Can he come straight back in and produce a mammoth score like he has done regularly this year (he has scored 130 or more on nine occasions), or will he be easily tagged? We're backing him in.
Mitch Duncan (MID, $15,600): A little pat on our own back for tipping Duncan to have a ripping semi-final against the Swans. The star midfielder gathered a round-high score of 160 points in a dominant display that included 36 disposals, 14 marks and two goals. He continues to be a much less popular choice than others at the Cattery, but he's a Draftstars gem.
Patrick Dangerfield (MID, $17,050): Forward or in the midfield? It really doesn't matter for us Draftstars coaches. Wherever the Brownlow medalist is played he dominates, so last week's 140-point score as an almost permanent forward was no surprise. You probably have to have him in your team this week because most will, and he'll most likely perform against his former side.
Darcy Lang (FWD, $9,100): We didn't expect to be writing about Lang this time last week, but the young Geelong midfielder took his chance last week with a 24-disposal and 10-mark game against the Swans. He scored 120 points as the fourth-best Cat. Can he do it again? At his price he might be worth a gamble.
Richmond v Greater Western Sydney, Saturday, MCG
Dion Prestia (MID, $13,450): Prestia wore some criticism earlier in the year for his form as a high-profile recruit at Richmond, but is turning it on when it counts. He led the Tigers for Draftstars points in their qualifying final win over Geelong with 128 points. It was his second highest score of the season.
Dustin Martin (FWD/MID, $15,250): He's done it all season, so why wouldn't he be able to continue that on Saturday night at the MCG? He hasn't slipped below 90 since round four, and in that time has posted 14 centuries. Martin has been Draftstars' Don Bradman of 2017 and you need to find a way to get him into your salary line-up, even if he costs a small fortune.
Shane Edwards (FWD/MID, $9750): Edwards averaged 62 points for the home and away season, but pulled out the best game of his year in the qualifying final with 101 points. It was his first century of 2017, so you really have to keep that in mind if you're considering him for this week. Can he back it up with another triple-figure effort? The odds would say it's unlikely.
Lachie Whitfield (MID, $13,550): We've been saying it for the past four months, but we're even surer of it now. Whitfield has become a Draftstars gun without anyone really noticing. He picked up a team-high 128 points for the Giants in their semi-final win over West Coast, which saw him back to his best after failing to hit triple figures in seven of his past previous eight games.
Stephen Coniglio (MID, $13,500): Coniglio starred in week one of the finals in tough circumstances with his side getting belted, and shone just as brightly last week with 121 points. His role within the Giants' midfield to get things started then back it up is important, and he collected seven tackles to go with his 35 disposals. Is in hot form.
Jonathon Patton (FWD, $10,300): All season we've been fluctuating on whether to pick Patton or not, because he pulls out some big games and can follow them with lowly ones. Last week was a good one – he gathered 119 points, his highest score since round 16. But he has scored triple figures just three times this season, so we're going to steer clear of him this week.
