FORGOTTEN Gold Coast midfielder Michael Rischitelli is set to return from a knee reconstruction through the NEAFL on Saturday week against the Brisbane Lions.

Rischitelli, 31, tore the ACL in his right knee against the Lions in round 16 last year.

"He's been in full training with the rest of the group for three or four weeks. He just needs to get through the last week," Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft told goldcoastfc.com.au.

The tough onballer will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, superstar Gary Ablett should be fine to return against West Coast at Metricon Stadium on Saturday after missing last round.

"(He's) done a lot of work over the weekend (and is) getting into a position where he should line up on Saturday afternoon," Ashcroft said.

Wingman Matt Rosa has played seven matches this season after struggling with concussion but he should be fit for this weekend.

"(Rosa) has made great progress the last week (and) if he gets through all the protocols this week, which we're expecting him to do, he should play on the weekend," Ashcroft said.

Key defender Rory Thompson has missed the last couple of weeks with a tight hamstring but is expected to be fit, although Jack Leslie has impressed in the Suns' backline in Thompson's absence.

Last year's No. 4 NAB AFL Draft selection Ben Ainsworth will be declared fit after suffering a heavily corked thigh, assuming he completes Thursday's training session, while tough midfielder Mitch Hallahan will return through the NEAFL this Saturday.

Callum Ah Chee will miss one more week with a back concern.
