ADELAIDE vice-captain Rory Sloane fended off questions about containing Dustin Martin's ‘don't argue’ as well as the Brownlow Medallist brushes off opponents.

The presence of the Richmond star, and the newly-minted premier player in the game, hovers large over Saturday's Grand Final at the MCG.

Breaking tackles and winning the contested footy is what Martin is known for, helping him win 11 best on ground performances as judged by the umpires in the 22 home and away games.

Martin has also be in dominant form during the finals series in the Tigers' two wins against Geelong and Greater Western Sydney.

Sloane was at pains to talk about the Tigers as a whole and the Crows would be foolish to put all their energy into one player.

"It's just not a Dustin Martin team, there's another 21 guys out there who we will have to focus on," Sloane said.

"Yes, he's a big part of that team and we certainly want to take him down and make sure we stick those tackles when we can, but there's a lot of other parts of football that we need to focus on to beat Richmond.

"It's not just ‘the Dusty show’, the reason why they've got to a Grand Final.

"Their midfield goes really deep, they've got a lot of stars in there and a lot of guys that have played unbelievable years.

"That's why they've played such good footy, because they all chip in and play their role.

"Dusty's just the same as everyone there."

In terms of making their tackles stick and staying away from the customary Martin fend, Sloane said it was all about having the right mindset.

"There's probably a couple of different techniques people might have ideas on," Sloane said.

"Tackling is a lot about intent and your aggression to just get at blokes."

The Crows were able to keep Martin relatively quiet when they hammered the Tigers by 76 points in round six.

Martin finished with 25 disposals, including 15 contested, eight Inside 50s and seven clearances, but didn't impact the game like he has so often this year.
