PORT Adelaide ruckman Patrick Ryder is "pretty positive" he'll be fit for his important duel with All Australian big man Max Gawn.
Power assistant coach Michael Voss said Ryder would be given every chance to be ready for Saturday's clash with Melbourne at the MCG.
"I've spoken to him this morning and he's pretty positive, so I'd imagine he'd be ready to go," Voss said on Monday.
"It'll be a good battle because he's up against a fairly handy ruckman in Gawn, who gives them first use, and Paddy's been in wonderful form throughout the whole year."
Ryder rolled his ankle in the Power's 70-point thumping of North Melbourne last Saturday.
He finished the game on the bench with his ankle heavily strapped, and will be eased through the early part of the week.
"I would've thought tomorrow he would be pretty limited," Voss said.
"We'll give him every opportunity.
"By Thursday, he'll be on the park and have a bit of a kick around and see how he's going.
"He's had such a huge workload this year that missing a training session at this time of the year isn't such a bad thing."
Ryder is in contention for All Australian selection, a remarkable achievement after he missed last year serving a 12-month anti-doping suspension as part of the 2012 Essendon supplements saga.
The Power could also be boosted by the return of defender Matthew Broadbent, who has missed three of the past four games with an ankle injury.
"He should be available," Voss said.
"He's one of those ones that has had a slow build-up, a bit of a hiccup, but we think he'll be right later in the week."
Winger Karl Amon will also be considered after making his comeback from a knee injury in the SANFL last weekend.
