AN ALREADY imposing Greater Western Sydney line-up is set to get stronger, with midfielder Stephen Coniglio confident of returning from a long-term ankle injury for the round seven clash with St Kilda.
The 23-year-old sustained a syndemosis sprain in the final round of the JLT Community Series on March 10, but he's returned to full training in recent weeks and could slide straight back into the Giants' side to face the Saints.
The tight-checking midfielder averaged 28 disposals a game in 2016 while negating while routinely negating the AFL's most dangerous playmakers.
Coniglio told RSN Radio he was close to playing against the Western Bulldogs on Friday night.
"Hopefully I can have a strong week of training and put my hand for next week," Coniglio said.
"It's a tough process the injury that I had with the syndemosis, and it can frustrating at times."
The West Australian will be a welcome addition to a Giants' midfield missing veterans Brett Deledio (calf) and Ryan Griffen (ankle) to long-term injuries.
