GOLD Coast leader David Swallow concedes the Suns are a "frustrating" team, but says out-of-contract coach Rodney Eade has taken them forward in his three years at the club.
Following Saturday's 67-point loss to Sydney, Gold Coast confirmed its CEO Mark Evans was leading a review into the club's football department.
Eade, football manager Marcus Ashcroft and list manager Scott Clayton are all under the microscope as the Suns sit 6-9 with seven rounds remaining.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Swallow mounted a strong defence of his coach, saying the team had developed markedly since Eade arrived at the club following the 2014 season.
"I've got full confidence in him," Swallow said.
"He's been great for me this year and I know the boys are right behind him.
"I'm happy with where the club's at.
"We've re-signed some key players, and culturally, (in) the last few years we've made some massive inroads.
"The last piece of the puzzle is the on-field performance, and the boys are all committed to trying to improve, and hopefully this last seven games we can really get the most out of the year."
The former number one draft pick conceded the difference between the Suns' best football and their worst was too great.
They have been embarrassed by GWS, Port Adelaide and now the Swans, but also upstaged Geelong and Hawthorn – twice.
The inconsistency is a problem Swallow says they are working on.
Evans' review is expected to take most of the remainder of the season and canvass information from far and wide.
Swallow said the Suns had improved after winning just six games last season.
"We are a frustrating team at times," he said.
"We've shown our good is really good, but our bad can be quite bad.
"Rocket's game-plan seems to be working well at some parts of games, but as a playing group we need to stick at it for longer, and that's the missing piece at the moment.
"We haven't had the results we're after, but we're looking forward to making every week the best performance we can."
